Syyskuussa pääsimme myös Dharman siskon Varjon mukana seuraamaan palveluskoirapuolen hakuruututreenejä Vantaalle. Ennen treenien alkua Dharma ja Varjo saivat purkaa vähän energiaa, ja koska satuimme saamaan siitä muutaman tosi mainion kuvan, laitoin ne tähän alkuun. 🙂

Hakutreeneissä tallataan metsästä iso alue kävelemällä ristiin rastiin ruudun sisällä (tällä kertaa taisi olla noin 50m x 50m) ja sen jälkeen alueelle viedään ihmiseltä haisevia esineitä noudettavaksi. Kukin koira lähetetään vuorollaan etsimään esineitä ja tuomaan takaisin lähettäjälle. Oli tosi mielenkiintoista seurata.

Lopuksi Dharmakin pääsi kokeilemaan ruutua, aloittelijana tosin niin, että Jessi ja kouluttaja kävelivät rauhakseltaan Dharman mukana ja lähempänä esineitä Dharmaa kehotettiin etsimään, jos ei suoralta kädeltä niitä löytänyt. Etsi-käskynhän Dharma osaa jo hyvin, ja Dharma löysikin osan esineistä hienosti.

Kuvasarjan lopussa Dharma ylpeänä esittelee löytöään. Dharmalle suurin palkkio tuntuu saavan olla se että pääsee kanniskelemaan ja esittelemään löytöään, joten hän saikin kantaa sen sitten autolle asti.

Last september we also got a chance to follow search practice with Dharma’s sister Varjo present. First the girls got to blow some steam off and we got some great photos, didn’t we?

Before the search practice started we helped to do a search square by walking criss cross around the approximately 50m x 50m area (165ft x 165ft). Then some  objects are planted to the area: old gloves, toys, baseball caps and other objects that have the scent of a human. Each dog comes to the search square alone and the dog’s trainer sends them to search and fetch the objects. It was really interesting to follow the practice.

At the end Dharma also got a chance to try the square, but as she was both puppy and first-timer, Jessi and the trainer started walking with Dharma around the square and when they got near an object, Dharma was asked to ‘search’. She did fine and actually found many of the items.
